Experience Mixed Media with Gwen Black
2 days 10 am - 4pm
March 12 -13 FULL           and June 5,-6 FULL       
This workshop is ideal for the beginner, the intermediate and the experienced student. Whether exploring new approaches, expanding existing practice or adding new skill to your existing technical base you will be able to use this mixed media experience to motivate and regenerate your creativity.

Printmaking with Gwen Black
2 days 10 am - 4pm
March 27-28 FULL         and July 23-24  FULL           
Exploring relief and intaglio work on Perspex, subjects covered in this two day course will be, dry point etching and mono printing. Please bring some photographic
references to work from, these could be landscape or figurative but should ideally be simple and uncomplicated in their composition and content to allow them to be transposed for the printmaking process.

Portraiture with Robyn Kennedy
4 Tuesday mornings 10 am - 1pm
April 14, 21, 28 May 5      FULL                   
Develop your observational skills through analytical studies of the head and learn how to employ lighting, viewpoint and scale in your work. Starting with drawing media you will create line, tone and colour head studies in preparation for producing finished portrait piece, using acrylic paint.

Moving into Abstracts with Gwen Black
3 days
April 22-24 and August 12-14             
The process of abstract art is about opening up your eyes to see the world around in a different way. In the Moving into Abstract course we will look at the approach of other artists to Abstract work and the different process which they employ to portray their subject. Students will spend some time learning how to take a subject and
develop it through diverse and investigational routes while using a variety of media and mark making techniques to create interest in texture and form bringing their work to an abstract conclusion.

Improving your Drawing Skills with Mark Lomax
3 Thursdays 10am - 4pm
May 7 14, 21                                     
Working from direct observation, this course will use a wide variety of
mediums to explore different approaches and styles in drawing, Subjects covered will include; line and tone, mark-making, light and shade, form and space, sketching and the use of positive and negative space.

Creative Bookbinding with Gwen Black
2 days 10 am - 4pm
May 8-9 FULL                  and October 1-2                                
Over the two days we will prepare and surface paper and construct three
different book types.

Altered Books with Mark Lomax
2 Thursdays 10am - 4pm
June 11,18 and September 10,17               
Your introduction to this increasingly popular art form. Already huge in America , it has been steadily gaining momentum in the UK. Is it Art, is it Craft, who cares? It’s great fun and very rewarding. This course looks at various approaches and ways of using books to create new and exciting works. 

Photography for Artists and Makers with Mark Lomax
1 Day 10am - 4pm
June13 FULL   and July 25                                      
How to get the most from your camera (film or digital, regardless of make or cost). This course will help you to take better photographs for reference purposes or to record your work more successfully. We will examine the best methods to record both 2 and 3D work to create a more professional impression, without expensive studio equipment and specialist lighting. Methods which you can replicate, simply and effectively in your own home or studio. Students are to bring with them, cameras and a wide selection of pieces of work to photograph. 

Finding your Personal Style with Mark Lomax
4 Saturday Mornings 10am - 1pm
August1,8,15,22                                            
This course will examine your work and help you focus on what it is really about. From simple choices, such as subject matter, choice of medium, colour palette and scale, through to more difficult
areas such as, content, meaning and influences, you will explore these and other topics to find out what makes your work personal and unique to you. Students should bring with them 6-10 examples of their work for discussion on first day of course, plus a sketchbook/notebook.

Printmaking and Bookbinding with Gwen Black
2 days 10am - 4pm
6,7 August and 3,4 September                    
Using simple printmaking and bookbinding techniques, design and create your own hand printed books. On day one, using simple printmaking techniques, you will create a series of prints which will be used on day two, in conjunction with simple bookbinding techniques to design and create your own hand printed books.

Landscape and Landforms with Robyn Kennedy
4 Wednesday mornings 10 am - 1pm
September 2, 9, 16, 23    FULL                              
Learn to use compositional outdoor studies and colour sketches as the starting point to create studio worked landscape pieces. Preliminary studies and sketches will introduce a variety of drawing media and the studio based paintings will then be developed using acrylic and mixed media

Collograph Printmaking with Master Printmaker Gayle Robinson
2 Days  only ONE place left
18 and 19 September
Explore ways of creating striking images using this unique method of low tech
collograph printmaking. This course is ideal for the artist who wants to develop their
imagery and learn a new printmaking technique.
